September 7, 2018:

The City of Stow has announced that FirstEnergy Solutions (FES) has assigned their contracts to Exelon/Constellation New Energy (please see Consumer Notice), under a bankruptcy filing.

According to the City’s agreement, there will be no interruptions to your electric service and no changes to the program rate, terms, and conditions. There is no action required by you, unless you wish to object to this bankruptcy transfer.

Objection instructions are outlined within the Notice and must be filed by September 14, 2018.  You may continue to call FES at 1-866-636-3749 with any questions. Once the final transfer takes place, a new customer service address and phone line for Exelon/Constellation New Energy will be published to residents.

The only difference you will notice is a new supplier name reflected on your future Ohio Edison bill.  The fixed rate of $0.0519/kWh for electric generation will continue for a term ending in March, 2021.   The program has no early termination fee.

Ohio Edison will continue to deliver your electricity, read your meters and issue your monthly bills.  You can continue to call Ohio Edison at 1-800-633-4766 for emergency repairs, downed power lines and billing questions.

2/2018: The City of Stow is pleased to announce that they have selected First Energy Solutions (FES) to serve the next term of the City’s electrical aggregation program.  The City has set a fixed rate of $0.0519/kWh for electricity generation for a 3-year term starting with April 2018 meter reads.  The program will have no early termination fee.

In November 2000, City of Stow residents voted to allow the City to contract for an electric generation supplier on their behalf.  Under government aggregation, local officials bring citizens together to gain group buying power for the purchase of competitively priced electricity from a retail electric generation supplier certified by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

The local utility, Ohio Edison will continue to deliver your electricity, read your meters, and issue your monthly bills. You will continue to call Ohio Edison at 1-800-633-4766 for emergency repairs, downed power lines and billing questions.

The City is pleased to have made this program possible but, asks that you do not call City offices as they are not able to process enrollments or handle a large volume of calls.  Residents or businesses should contact FES if they have any questions.
