The City of Stow is not soliciting residents with a new gas utility opportunity. There have been reports of residents being targeted by a company offering lower utility rates. This company is not affiliated with the City of Stow.
Stow currently has a fixed-term contract for gas with Constellation Energy. The aggregate rate is $3.18/MCF (one thousand cubic feet) through March 2020. Beginning in April 2020, the new rate through the city and Constellation Energy will be $2.84, a record low rate, which will be in effect until March 2024.
“We want our residents to be careful and to look into and question any solicitors that come to them and to understand that these people are not affiliated with the city,” said City of Stow Mayor John Pribonic. “We do not solicit our residents regarding utilities. We have thoroughly researched our supplier who assures us that we are getting the best rates. In fact, we currently have the lowest long-term fixed rate in the City’s recent history with no early termination fee. If residents have any questions, they are urged to call City Hall or the Department of Public Service at 330-689-2829.
