Dear Community,
The intensity of this past week’s storms has caused a great deal of tree damage, among other destruction, that residents are having to deal with. We want residents to know that we have significantly expanded our response efforts to address this damage and to assist through the recovery process. Our crews responded immediately to remove downed trees across Stow streets and to assist wherever necessary. We supplied dry ice to those without power and worked relentlessly with First Energy to get power restored to all. Storm-related yard debris pick up is offered to all residents and is currently underway. We have had much to do at our own facilities; Northport Park, SOAR and Skip Playgrounds all experienced damage from downed trees. We have cleaned these facilities up and they have been reopened. The City Center Complex saw quite a bit of tree damage, and this has mostly been cleared. The Sancturetum is still closed due to downed power lines and trees. The wooded trails at Silver Springs Park will need some serious attention. We continue to assess all City-owned areas.
Does this community need a reason to celebrate after this past week? We are excited to once again present the Stow Summer Sunset Blast, a family-oriented community event that is free and open to the entire community! Summer Sunset Blast celebrates the Stow community with over 40 local organizations, food vendors, and family-friendly activities including festival food, kids' activities, inflatables, games, music, beer (including craft beer from Missing Mountain), live bands, and the best grand finale fireworks show in the area.
The two-day event is scheduled for September 2-3, 2023 from 5pm-10pm each night. Admission is free. Attendees will want to bring money to purchase delicious festival food and beverages from food truck vendors Chick-fil-A, Dr. Hibachi, Uncle Bacon’s Bar-B-Q, Dreamsicle Ice Cream Truck, just to name a few. The UNLIMITED HIGH ADVENTURE ZONE will include kids' inflatables, a petting zoo, rock wall, euro bungee, and a spin cycle. All for a $5 wristband. This is one of our best events of the year and there is something for everyone. We want to see as many residents as possible come out and enjoy themselves. The weather forecast is fantastic!
