The City of Stow plans to reconstruct State Route 91 (Darrow Road), from the southern corporation limit to Norton Road with a project length of 3.4 miles. The proposed improvements include:
- Installing new sidewalks and curb ramps in areas where they are missing to improve pedestrian mobility and connectivity;
- Reconstructing and resurfacing the pavement;
- Replacing curbing;
- Replacing catch basins and installing new storm sewers;
- Installing new pavement markings and signage;
- Upgrading the traffic signals including upgrades to pedestrian amenities and crosswalks and optimizing signal timing; and
- Adding a new path connection to provide more direct access from SR 91 to the existing Metro Parks bike trail.
At this time environmental impacts appear to be minor. The project plans to minimize impacts to wetlands, streams and waterways/floodplains along the project corridor. Impacts to the Maple Lawn Cemetery on the east side of SR 91 are being avoided.
Small portions of proposed right of way may be required in isolated and sporadic locations. The project is sponsored by the City of Stow and funded by AMATS, FHWA, ODOT, and local funds.
Currently, the City plans to begin construction in 2025. Construction duration would extend through 2026.
